BERBER SEPARATISM IN N.AFRICA SOLUTIONS?

I've been on a bit of a hiatus lately (I had a lot of final exams to take) but, I've been hearing a lot, especially from my uncle who just came back from Algeria that there is a pretty big Berber "separatist" movement in Algeria. I have a read a lot about the Kabyles but I came a across a website a few weeks ago that was about independence movements in various countries, forgive me I could not find it this evening however. But, two of the articles on it were by Egyptian nationalists (as in folks who believe that Egypt is not Arab and that Egyptians are superior to Arabs) and one by a "Berber" nationalist who called for Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Mauritania and Libya to pull out of the Arab LEague and end 'ARabization" efforts and to establish Berber as the offical language of these states. This was quite troubling to me because as far as I know all of these states except for Morocco (possibly I've heard conflicting %s) is a majority ARab or Arabic speaking. The idenetiy wars that these folks seem to be waging to me at least can esily be solved, create a Berber uiion or something of that sort, while still allowing the Maghreb states to stay in the Arab League. How viable or strong this union could be is very debatable. It might be able to work by having berber representatives sent to a general assembly from each of the member states and working on a similar basis as the Arab LEague or Organization of American States. But, the animosity towards the Arab identity in Algeria put forth by these writers was very troubling to me because I do think that the government should do more to really encorage the use of Berber at least colloqually rather than just trying to Arabize the whole country (talking about algeria here). What are you opinions on this matter? I've not had an oprotunity to talk to anybody from Algeria or N. Africa since being back at school so Im eagar to get your opinions. I talked to an Egyptian guy about the "Egyptian nationalists" when I saw the site and he said he'd never heard of them and kind of dissmissed them as crack pots. how about you guys?

AHN WRONG ALGERIANS ARE FROM EVERY WHERE JUST CAUSE WE SPEAK ARABIC DOSENT MEAN WE ARE. YES WE HAVE SOME ARAB IN US ALONG WITH BLACK ITALIAN SPANISH ECT I THINK THIS SHOULD BE DONRE BECAUSE TH BERBERS WERE TAKEN OF THEIR LANGUAGE AND COUNRTY. I DONT AGREE THAT ARABS SHOULD OF CAME I THINK THAT THEY SHOULD OF SPEARD ISLAM ARABIC AND LEFT TYO THEIR OWN COUNRY
