hmm...could a.com sustain a thread on the topic of compassion? Just discovered the following and thought I'd pass along.....

On November 12, 2009 the global Charter for Compassion will be launched all over the world. The charter is the "wish" of Karen Armstrong made when she won the TED Prize: "creating, launching and propagating" a Charter for Compassion, based on the Golden Rule. The principle of Golden Rule is embraced by every faith and by every moral code, religious or otherwise and suggests that we act toward others as we would want them to act toward us.

Since Ms. Armstrong made her wish, thousands of people have contributed to the process of creating the Charter for Compassion.

Starting November 12th, a week of celebratory activities surrounding the charter will take place around the world - in places of community, houses of worship, public spaces, schools, universities and workplaces.
