Nobody plays tennis in Algeria?
Algerian tennis player Lamine Ouahab won his second “Future” event in a row, defeating his team mate Slimane Saoudi in straight sets (6/4, 6/3) Saturday at "Tennis club Les palmiers" of Ben Aknoun (Algiers). Lamine Ouahab, the winner of "Future I" tournament contested last week on the same clay courts, had no difficulty overcoming his opponent in spite of bad weather conditions: strong wind and bad courts due to the night’s rainfalls.

Just wanted to add, Lamine Ouahab is quite accomplished at the junior level. He was a finalist at the Wimbeldon juniors some 2-3 years ago and has played against most of the top players right now. At the Wimbeldon juniors, Ouahab defeated Rafal Nadal, who is currently ranked 2nd in the world right now. I dont know what has been slowing him down (compared to others he played against) but i know he has the talent to become a world class player. He is currently ranked in the 300's but he has time to progress.

I believe the reasons why tennis is not that popular in Algeria is simply because we don't have that many tennis courts, and the few ones that we have, charge some ridiculous fees. Only the "bourgeois" can afford the luxury to play tennis back home which is pitiful in my view. We have two fab tennis courts next to my house which are free of charge and still nobody plays tennis except me and few neighbors.
