    Algeria's Draw

    Algeria was drawn alongside Guinea, Gambia and Cape Verde Islands for the 2008 African Cup qualifiers. The top team from the group qualifies. Also, the top 4 second place finishers advance.

    Algeria's Schedule For The Qualifiers

    Algeria was drawn in the same group as ACN quarter-finalists Guinea, Gambia and Cape Verde Islands for the 2008 African Cup qualifiers that will kick off in September. Algeria's main rival for qualification will be Guinea which is ranked 56th in the world. Guinea was eliminated in the quarter-finals of the African Cup after losing 3-2 to Senegal. Algeria will also face off against Cape Verde Islands who are ranked 120th in the world and Gambia, ranked 164th. Complete schedule for Algeria:

    1-3 September 2006: Guinea vs Algeria
    6-8 October 2006: Algeria vs Gambia
    23-25 March 2007: Algeria vs Cape Verde
    1-3 June 2007: Cape Verde vs Algeria
    15-17 June 2007: Algeria vs Guinea
    7-9 September: Gambia vs Algeria

    What do you think about our chances, Tony? Are you satisfied with our group? Guinea is a hard team to beat. To be honest I don't think we'll get through, but the draw could be a lot tougher. If we'd drawn Cameroon, CIV, Tunisia or Nigeria we could've just stayed at home.

    I think its a good draw for us. I cant imagine us losing against Gambia or Cape Verde, whether at home or away. I expect full points from all 4 of those games. Guinea is a better team with good players in Europe but I still think we have better players. Personally, I think we will make it but its important to get at least 1 point in the first at Guinea.
