Local newspapers have announced that Algerian national team caretaker Jean-Michel Cavalli will only call up six domestic based players for the team's upcoming pair of friendlies in France. The list of players includes JS Kabylie's trio of Lounes Gaouaoui, Rabie Meftah and Hamza Yacef. The other players are ES Setif's Lazzhar Hadj Aïssa, USM Alger's Hocine Metref and MC Oran's Brahim Arafat Mezouar. Hadj Aïssa's participation could be in doubt as the player is currently suffering from an injury. In total, 24 players, of which 18 ply their trade in Europe, will be called up to the training camp that will see the Algerian national team face Gabon and Ligue 2 side FC Istres. The only two European-based players confirmed so far are Olympique Lyon's Yacine Hima and Olympique Marseille's Mehdi Sennaoui.
