Veteran German coach Peter Schnittger is in line to be the new coach of Algeria.
Sources within the country's sports ministry are quoted as saying that they have reached an agreement in principle with the coach, after he visited the country earlier this month.
Schnittger will replace Meziane Ighil who stepped down from the post in September last year.
The German first started coaching in Africa in 1968 and has had spells in charge of Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Ethiopia and Senegal.
Schnittger seems to have got the job ahead of three other coaches - with Guy Stephan, Alain Perrin and Raynald Denoueix having been tipped as possibilities for the post.
