DUBAI — Al Nasr recovered from a game down to beat Al Ahli 3-1 in the final of the President’s Cup Volleyball Championship at the Al Wasl sports hall yesterday.

The victory gave Al Nasr an unprecedented three titles of the season having earlier clinched the Federation’s Cup and the league championship. Al Ahli, who reached their only cup final during the 1986/87 season before losing to Al Wasl, tried to stop Al Nasr’s complete sweep after taking the first game 25-18. But Al Nasr, paced by Jassim Mubarak and Khalid Al Doseri, hit back to claim the next two games 25-14, 26-24 to clinch the title.

Al Nasr’s Algerian coach, Murad Sanoon, lauded the fighting spirit of his charges, saying: “They fought well despite losing the opening game. I had the confidence that we would win the match as we have prepared well for it.” Sanoon, who has trained the team during the past year, did not want to single out any individual player for the victory. “All the players did well as a team. It was a collective effort,” he said....
