Algeria were drawn to face the Central African Republic in the first round of the 2008 Olympic Games qualifiers to be held in Beijing, China.

Algeria announces six for Beijing
The Algerian athletics federation (FAA) has announced the participation of a team of six athletes at the 11th IAAF World Junior Championships which will take place in Beijing, China from 15 till 20 August.
Included in the team is Nadjim Manseur who was a finalist at the last World Youth Championships. This young athlete won the 800m in 1:48.39 at the recent championship of Africa Zone 1 which took place in Rabat (Morocco) on 15 / 16 July 2006.
Men
800m: Nadjim Manseur
1500m: Bensaadi Abdelghani
10,000 metres Race Walk: Amine Djelfaoui
Triple Jump: Temacini Sief El Islam
Women
1500m: Rezigue Aicha
3000m Steeplechase: Lathamna Samia

Well I hope they give us a better show than the last one in Athens! I think they just go for the experience and the holiday! there is just no determination showing on their faces!

Well you cant really expect too much from these guys given the training conditions in Algeria. Sports as a whole is in decline in Algeria. Even our runners, who were once one of the best in the world, dont get the proper training to succeed. Just look at Morocco, their runners are always finishing in the top and its thanks mainly to the running school they set up.

6 Only..
Woo ..6 is a very small number...It's a shame...The authorities should set up loads of Sports centres all over the country. We need this for our youths ..to keep them out of trouble....and to get us some medals and pride hopefully....
But there is no need to wait for the governement to do anything ...It's obvious that they have other priorities
So let's do something about it....Any suggestions?
