Algerians are not a nation that is into sports...apart from watching it of course...or the case of Football for the boys which is great, at least they keep a fair level of fitness...I have noticed that there is no incentive for people to exercise, there is no emphasis on the health benefits of exercising.
I have been quite lucky in my life to have the chance and facilities to exercise throughout my childhood and teenage years, until University that is where I became a slob, a smoking studying hippy!though I started again and I must say just in time before it's too late (age wise) and I feel so much better for it... and I can see the results...muscle tone and definition and good healthy skin and hair...the benefits are countless
What are your views on exercising and Algerians.
BTW: am racing on a 5K charity race on the 3rd Sep in Hyde Park...anyone cares to join me!

My dad pushed us to try every sport at school so I was heavily into my sports until I left for uni a couple of years ago. Now I don't play the team sports so much but I regularly go running and swimming and train a local young girls netball team. I'm also a brown belt in karate but I had to quit that when I was 16 because the classes were mixed and I no longer felt comfortable in them. I'm hoping to find a women-only class.
I havn't come across many algerians in the UK. But the one's I know back home are not really into sports/exercising. But that can be said for English people too. You always get your sporty and not-so-sporty people. The shocking thing in the UK is the lack of activity of children, hence the ever-increasing problem of childhood obesity.
I used to have so much triciti (hyperactive energy) as a kid and was always running around. Now you see kids are more than happy to sit indoors all day watching TV or playing on their games console.
It's a sad state of affairs

I like to play football allot, used to do weight training 6 or 7 days a week - tooo much - Obsessive - I know! but I really genuinly enjoyed it, it had nothing to do with fitness.
I am exploring new types of fitness now, ''walking'', always the most boring word I could think of, the mere sight of the word ''walking'' would send me straight to sleep but I tried it a few times over the past year and it's really enjoyable, so me and some friends every now and then ie. once or twice a month choose a beautiful place in the UK and drive down and go for a 10 or 15 mile walk. The UK is a really beautiful place, I never really realised eventhough I do live in the middle of the beautiful countryside.
Drove down to Dartmoor yesterday and walked round there, it was very nice.

My kids will definately not be of these techno playstation 24hrs a day, Wallahi if that happens I will break every bit of technology in my house to prove the point!!!

Walking for 10-15mis? try for 5 hours! I went hiking/walking in Epping Forest a coupls of weeks ago with some friends, we followed a book and a map and it was an 11km walk (7 miles), my feet were jelly afterwards...I very much njoy walking in the English coutryside, it's beautiful and safe...

It took us 5 hours to walk 11miles yesterday, my legs are aching a bit but not too bad but the route was ok, very beautiful.
