Ziani & Saifi Bring Victory To Their Teams
Karim Ziani and Rafik Saifi both ensured that their clubs would get off to winning starts this year as both players scoring the winning goals in their games today. Ziani scored the winning goal in his FC Sochaux's 2-1 victory over St-Etienne, blasting it past the keeper from outside the box. Saifi gave newly promoted FC Lorient a dream like start, as they defeated Paris SG 3-2, with Saifi cleverly beating the PSG goalkeeper with a right footer into the far corner of the goal. Yazid Mansouri played the entire 90 minutes for Lorient as well. OGC Nice's Antar Yahia played the entire 90 minutes for his team but they lost 1-0 on the road to Le Mans.
In Belgium, RAEC Mons striker Mohamed Dahmane scored his first goal in the Belgian top division, just 2 minutes after coming into the game, in his teams 2-0 victory over St Trond. His goal would prove to be the game winner.

Ligue 1: FC Lorient 0-1 Bordeaux
In the early game of Ligue 1 today, newly promoted FC Lorient lost 1-0 at home to Bordeaux with the goal coming just before halftime former Micoud. In a relatively balanced game, Lorient had a few chances to score but could not convert. Most notable was a header from Rafik Saifi, who played the entire 90 minutes, which went straight to the goalie. Yazid Mansouri, who started the game for Lorient, was sent off in the 85th minute after a tackle from behind on Moroccan international Chamakh. It was the second red card for Lorient as they finished the game with 9 players. Algerian defender Carl Medjani came into the game in the 59th minute and had a solid display.
