The Algerian Ice Hockey Association is pleased announce a new friendship with the United Arab Emirates Ice Hockey Association, which will help bring awareness of ice hockey to arab nations and with possible exhibition matches between the 2 clubs in future.

Here is the statement from UAEIHA General Secretary Abdul Razak Alkhajah:

"Im Abdul Razak Alkhajah, General Secretary for the UAE Ice Hockey Association.

Ice hockey is been played as early as 1979 when the first rink was opened in Dubai. At present we have three ice rinks one each in the capital Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Dubai. The UAE Ice Hockey Association is officially reconized by the Youth and Sports Authority which is part of the Ministry of Youth and Culture and is a memeber of IIHF since the year 2000

We have 6 national teams with 100 players and 8 expatriate (Euro American) teams with 600 players.

Our national team represented the UAE in many international tournaments, 5 times Asian champions, one in Baden Baden Germany and a friendly game with the old timers in Toronto, Canada. In January 2007 our national team will be representing the UAE in the Asian winter games in Chang Chun, China.

We welcome your association in ice hockey of the Arab world and we are more than ready to cooperate with you in the near future. Please, dont hesitate to contact us for any assistance about ice hockey and wish you the best of luck.
