Algerian runners Tarek Boukensa and Anter Zerguelaine finished 3rd and 4th, respectively, in the men's 1,000m event on Sunday (February 11th) in Karlsruhe, Germany, at the International Association of Athletics Foundations (IAAF) Permit BW Bank Meeting. The race was won by Bernard Lagat of the United States, followed by Dutch Arnoud Okken. Morocco's Ahmed Baday was 3rd in the 3,000m event, behind Kenyans Isaac Songok and Boniface Songok. In the women's 1,500m event, Moroccan Maryem Alaoui Selsouli finished 3rd, clocking her career best 4:09.58, behind Lidia Chojecka of Poland and Slovenian Sonja Roman.

On Saturday, in her 2007 indoor debut, Morocco's Hasna Benhassi won the women's 800m event at Reunión Internacional Ciudad de Valencia, Spain. The Olympic and World silver medallist clocked 2:03.85, more than a second ahead of Poland's Ewelina Setowska and Italian Elisa Cusma.
