Zidane kicks off family visit to Algeria

February 24, 2009 -- Football superstar Zineddine Zidane is in Algeria for a private visit, in response to a personal invitation from President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, Echorouk reported on Monday (February 23rd). After arriving in Algiers on Sunday with his parents, wife and three children, the legendary footballer travelled on a presidential plane to Djanet, Illizi province. Zidane, whose charitable foundation has already donated computers and sports equipment to needy children in Djanet and Bordj Si El Haouas, pledged other aid packages for several sporting associations in the remote region.

Zizou to endorse Bouteflika

March 2, 2009 -- Zineddine Zidane is wrapping up a private visit to Algeria on Monday (March 2nd) by meeting President Abdelaziz Bouteflike in Algiers, local press reported. Zidane has agreed to join other celebrities in promoting Bouteflika's presidential campaign to expatriate voters in France, Spain and Italy, Echourouk reported. Along with his parents, wife, 3 children and manager, Zidane spent several days last week in Djanet, llizi province and Tamanrasset.
