Algerian Hockey 2010

I'll start a fresh thread for Algerian hockey developments in 2010.

Last weekend management had a meeting in Paris, the conclusion was for 2010 we'll mainly be concentrating on finding sponsorship, increased government support, a training camp in Paris, the African Nations cup and starting an inline hockey project inside Algeria.

In other news 16 year old Algerian goalie Khalid Abdulwahid made his debut for Streatham Redskins in the English National League.

In this weeks Powerplay magazine there was a feature on Algerian hockey and an interview with Khalid Abdulwahid and Karim Kerbouche.

Algerian forward Karim Kerbouche signs for Lee Valley Lions making him the 2nd Algerian player in the English National League along with goalie Khalid Abdulwahid.

2 new rinks in the capital algiers, 1 is in bab ezzouar mall, the other in riadh el feth which is the shopping area by the monument. Both seem unsuitable for hockey, but they seem very popular with lots of kids skating, they can definitely be used to train juniors, childrens hockey will commence in 2011 which is very positive for algerian hockey. With skating and hockey for kids in all 3 of algerias rinks it will encourage more support from government and private businesses and then hopefully a olympic size national rink.
