April 27, 2010 -- Around 600 athletes from Algeria, in addition to two representatives from each of Maghrebi countries (Libya, Tunisia, Mauritania and Morocco) took part during the last weekend in the first Maghrebi semi-marathon held in Algeria. Participants were divided into five age categories, starting from 18 to 51. In the 18-30 years category, the Tunisian Mohamed Guemati crossed the finish line in second position after the Moroccan Abderrahim Al Djaafri, who arrived first after running the distance in 67 minutes. The 3rd and 4th places went to two Algerians respectively, Chibani Azzeddine and Tahbilat Hakim. The opening ceremony of the North African competition was dedicated to the promotion of blood donation.
