Algerian ice hockey 2011

New year new thread.

First bit of news for 2011, I've been told a 4th rink has opened in Ben Aknoun which is an area in the capital algiers, not sure on size yet but i suspect its small like the others. It is indoors and a kids hockey club will commence from end of january.

We are actively looking for kids hockey equipment donations new or used, if anyone can help with that please get in contact.

The other 3 rinks are in Tizi Ouzou, Bab Ezzouar mall (algiers) and Riadh el Feth (algiers).

We are still looking for sponsorship and working with the government for more support.

We have scheduled game against Évry from French division 2 on 30/04/11, we should have some new faces in the line up and hopefully representatives from the sport ministry and olympic committee in the crowd.

It’s our pleasure to announce the donation of $10,000 worth of ice hockey equipment from the NHLPA to the Association Algérienne de Ice et Inline Hockey, as part of the NHLPA’s ‘Goals and Dreams Fund’. This equipment will go to Algeria for the children who want to learn to play ice hockey but have never had the opportunity to in the past. We are extremely grateful.

This is a huge boost to Algerian ice hockey, it allows us to create children’s teams and a league, and will add strength to our request for more government support and IIHF membership.
