The classical derby between Algiers clubs MCA and USMA (1-2) drew huge crowds (more than 90,000 spectators) Friday evening at the July 5th stadium, which renewed on that occasion with evening matches on day eight of the Algerian football first league.
Loyal to a well established tradition, fans from both ends rushed to the stadium to cheer on their favourites, wrapping this ?clash? up with a fabulous atmosphere that kept all its promises, with a great performance from both clubs.
The die-hard fans from both sides, dragging the loyal fan?s arsenal (flags, drums and trumpets) to the Olympic stadium soon after fasting break, were eager to experience the suspense and emotion that only MCA-USMA contests can bring.
The crowd was taken by a match started at top speed soon after the referee?s whistle, with a dangerous action by USMA duo Ammour-Bourahli. A shot from the latter could have deceived goalkeeper Benfissa. However, it?s the Mouloudia (MCA) who managed to score first on 7 minutes through centre-forward Noureddine Deham.
The ?red and black? (USMA)?s reaction came quickly, with Mamadou Diallo bringing both teams on level terms 6 minutes later.
As offensive as ever, both teams missed several clear occasions to score. But the evening?s fortune would end up smiling on international player Bilal Dziri?s team mates, thanks to a goal from Hocine Achiou after a 50 metre ride.
In the second half, changes brought by both coaches didn?t change anything to the score.
Nor does this defeat change anything to the overall standings, as MCA, conceding their first loss this season, remain on top. With two matches left to play, USMA is third, six points behind the leader.
