Moussa Saib has been named Algeria's Footballer of the Year in the annual poll of players and coaches conducted by the sports magazine El Heddaf and Le Buteur.
The 35-year-old midfielder helped JS Kabylie win the Algerian league title in May in his final campaign and is now the club's coach.
Saib polled 389 points in the ballot, ahead of another experienced midfielder Billel Dziri (213) of USM Alger and Karim Ziani.
The latter, who plays in France for Troyes, received 191 points.
Saib, a former Algeria captain, previously enjoyed an extensive career in Europe, where he played for England's Tottenham Hotspur, French side Auxerre and with Spanish champions Valencia.
