Reports have it that defender Ahmed Reda Madouni, who plays for Borussia Dortmund, has agreed to play for his country of origin Algeria. The 24-year old, born in Morocco, has the dual nationality (French-Algerian) and has represented France in the junior levels. Whether the reports are true or not, the player has until December 31st of this year to make the switch. Otherwise, he will only be able to represent France. He has played 4 games this year (the last 4) and has scored 1 goal.

TonyStarks,
Thanx for the info kho. But just wanted to discuss a point regarding bringing new players from abroad.
I dont think it will make much difference, because the way I see it is, in a team, there must be good players, but also good players who played togather for a very long time so they are used to each other's style (e.g Brazil National Team) Brazilians have been playing togather for years, regarless of the fact they are all professionals.
Putting a lot of good new players in a team doesnt necessarily mean it will improve the performance dramatically (e.g Real Madrid). Real Madrid found a lot of difficulties to get all those top stars used to each other on the pitch, infact they lost many matches.
Anyway just a point. The Algerian players have been changed sooo many times, and the coaches have been changed sooo many times, 10 different coaches coach the same team in one year... what the hell.
Khokom.

The players were changed so often because they werent that good. They would have good years and then get called up to the national team. They would have bad years and then they would be left off. I think the FAF is trying to establish some regularity in the team. Thats why it is trying to find all these young Algerian players in Europe. The current groups average is like 22-23 and this means, once they're established, they can play together for 5-6 minimum. This includes players like Arrache, Cherrad, Yahia, Beloufa, Ziani, Achiou, Madouni maybe, etc..

i think the french gov. gave our gov. permission to request him.
how do you explain ignoring all other players, ramdane ali (fribourg) mourad magani (Bologna) mendil (??-italy ), zidane and so many other players.
god bless algeria.

Ramdane is an old guy and barely plays for Freiburg. He played maybe 2 matches last year and none this year. Plus Freiburg is the worst team in the German league at the moment. We dont need him. Meghni made up his choice a long time ago to play for France and i dont think hes going to regret it. He has a lot of potential and there isnt anything we can do to convince him to play for Algeria. Mendil is a good player but he is only playing in Serie B in Italy and hasnt shown any signs of improving. If he is in form he might get a call up.Originally posted by 3rdTroop

Finally the Zidane issue! Zidane first represented France when he was 15. At the time, if you played for a national team of a country (any level) you werent allowed to switch. So when Zidane played for France when he was 15 (and noone had heard of him in Algeria or outside of France), he was done with the Algerian NT. For him, i dont think he thought he would be the star that he is right now. Its all good though. I got mad love for my fellow Kbaylie Zidane !

Lol. Disregard my Zidane comment. I was just trying to stick up for him cause a lot of people hate on him.
However, the story you said about Zidane. Ive heard it. I also heard one where he actually practised and the coach's said "he's too slow" and he'll never make it playing soccer. Another story had it that the coach said "we dont want any emigres players on the team." A lot of stories about Zidane. If you look at what i said you'll see that its impossible that they actually happened.
As for Mendil, the coaching staff are always wathcing the players. So, if hes good he'd be on the team already. For Meghni, i wish he plays for Algeria. He is amazing and i did hear he's going to play for Juventus in the winter. Good luck to him. On another note, heres a picture of a forgotten NT player that gave a lot to the team:
