In an interview with Le Buteur, the Swedish-born player of Algerian descent (Algerian father) said he wants to play for the Algerian NT. He has previously played for Sweden in the junior levels and was a member of the Swedish U16 team that won the Euro U16 champions a number of years back. He plays midfield and was even with Manchester United's academy for a bit.

Nadir Benchenaa has agreed to a one-year loan that will see him play this coming season with Orgryte of the Swedish 1st division. He has barely featured for Hammarby and will use this opportunity to play some 1st team soccer.

Nadir Benchenaa had a bright debut with his new club Orgryte. His team was down 2-1 when he came on as a substitute in the second half of their game against Djurgardens. Six minutes later he gave an assist to his teammate and the score was 2-2. The game ended that way.

    Benchenaa Joins Assyriska

22-year old mifielder Nadir Benchenaa has joined Swedish club Assyriska FS. Benchenaa was on loan last season with Orgryte from Hammarby. Benchenaa was one of the best prospects in Swedish football but has not lived up to his expectations in recent years. He will try to relaunch his career with his new team.

    Season Update

Benchenaa's move to Assyriska seems to have reignited his playing career. Although just the 2nd division, Nadir has been getting regular minutes, which was not the case at Hammarby and Orgryte. After 18 games, Benchenaa has helped his team to the 6th position in the 16-team Swedish 2nd division with 12 more rounds to go. His stats so far this season:

    Games played: 18
    Games started: 15
    Goals: 0
    Assists: 3
