Youssef Sofiane has signed with Dutch division one side Roda JC. The French-born striker, of Algerian descent, had previously played with Auxerre and Lille in France's 1st division and was most recently with English side West Ham United. Sofiane has signed for the rest of the season with an 2-year option after that, and another 2-year option after that. The player represented France in the junior levels, and must apply to FIFA if he wishes to play for the Algerian national team. Sources close to the player say he has already submitted his file to FIFA for a nationality switch. He joins Karim Bridji of FC Volendam (2nd division) as the only Algerian players in Holland.
