Carl Medjani was called up by the French Olympic (U21) national team for the annual Toulon invitational tournament. France, the defending champions, will face South Africa, Japan and Mexico.

Carl Medjani has been loaned out by Liverpool to Ligue 1 club FC Metz. The 20-year old had a great season with FC Lorient in the 2nd division and seems ready to handle the pressures of France's top division.

In a recent interview, FC Metz defender Carl Medjani talk about the possibility of joining the Algerian national team. The 20-year old, on loan from Liverpool, is even planning on visiting Algeria this summer for the first time. In the interview, Medjani talked about his attachment to Algeria and of his Algerian teammates Karim Ziani, at Lorient, and Mehdi Meniri, at FC Metz. Medjani even said that he watches the national team on a regular basis. He played for France's U21 team last year. He has featured 18 times for Metz in the league this season.

I dont know Medjani and I dont know what he thinks of Algeria but sometimes players join the NT to boost their career (to say they play international football). So you have to wonder which category he falls under.
