Belmadi Scores For Saints Midfielder Djamel Belmadi scored his first goal in a Southampton Saints uniform, today, in their 2-0 win against Crewe Alexandra. Belmadi dribbled through 4 players before putting away a shot from 15 yard out, beating the goalkeeper in the top left corner. Southampton's coach Harry Rednapp, as well team players and fans are urging management to give Belmadi a long term contract. His current contract runs out next week. Southampton is currently 5th in the standings. Boulebda On A Scoring Spree US Creteil attacker Ali Boulebda has been on a scoring spree this season netting 4 goals in 6 games, good for 2nd in Ligue 2. The 25-year old Algerian-born player has already equalled his tally from last season, when he played 28 games. Saifi Denies Marsielle Win AC Ajaccio's midfielder Rafik Saifi denied Olympmique Marseille their first win of the season when he scored a penalty in the 87th minute. The goal is Saifi's second this seasaon for Ajaccio, who are 7th in the standings. Saifi is having a terrific season for Ajaccio, and is rated as the top midfielder in Ligue 1 by L'Equipe magazine. |

Anther Yahia played the entire game for Nice who beat Paris SG 2-1 on the road. Mehdi Meniri and Nacer Ouadah were both starters for FC Metz in their 0-0 tie with Nantes. Rafik Saifi played the entire game and scored a goal for Ajaccio in their 1-1 tie with Marseille. Salim Arrache entered the game for Strasbourg in the 77th minute in their 0-0 tie with Bordeaux. Mourad Meghin came in as a subtitute in the 66th minute for Sochaux in their 0-0 tie with St Etienne. Fabien Boudarene played the entire match for Sochaux. Belgium Nasredine Kraouche started the game and was subbed out in the 89th minute for Charleroi as they tied FC Brussels 2-2. On the opposite side was Sofiane Zaaboub who also started and came out in the 85th minute. Karim Fellahi started for Mouscron in their 1-0 win against Westerlo, and was subbed out in the 84th minute. Mohamed Brahami played the entire game for La Louviere as they went down 3-2 at home to Standard Liege. Maamar Mamouni was a starter for La Gantoise in their 2-1 loss to Beerschot. He was subbed out of the game in the 62nd minute. England: Championship Djamel Belmadi played the entire game and scored a goal for Southampton as they defeated Crewe Alexandra 2-0. Hameur Bouazza came in as a sub in the 70th minute for Watford in their 0-0 draw with Reading. Ligue 2 Boulebda was a starter and scored a goal for Creteil as they defeated Chateauroux 2-0 on the road. Yacine Hima was also a starter on the opposite side for Chateauroux. Malik Hebbar came into the game in the 90th minute for Reims as they beat Bastia 1-0 on the road. Halim Medaci played the entire game for Le Havre as they defeated Valenciennes 3-0. Nassim Akrour played the entire game for Grenoble as they drew 0-0 with Sete. Mansour Boutabout scored the only goal of the game for Sedan as they beat Dijon 1-0. Boutabout was playing alongside fellow Algerian Nadir Belhadj who also played the entire game. Malek Ait-Alia played entire game as captain for Laval as they defeated Montpellier 2-1. Karim Ziani and Salah Bakour squared off against each other as Lorient tied Istres 1-1. Both players played the entire game. |

Belmadi Signs Extension
Southampton have signed Algerian midfielder Djamel Belmadi to a one year extension. The Saints, who are fifth in the Championship tables, had originally signed Belmadi to a one-month contract, in which he played five games and scored one goal. The extension will keep Belmadi with the Saints until the end of the season. |

Yahiaoui Signs With Istres
Marseille midfielder Ahmed Yahiaoui signed a 3-year contract with French second division side Istres. The 18-year old, a member of the French junior national team, ended his contract with Olympique Marseille after he was sanctioned by the team for discplinary problems. Yahiaoui was linked with English giants Chelsea last year but Marseille were not willing to give him up. |

TRANSFERS
A number of Algerians were involved in transfers as the deadline approaches. La Louviere defender Nasser Daineche signed with French second division side Le Havre. Sabri Tabet of Reims signed with French second division side Clermont. Kamel Larbi of OGC Nice was loaned out for the rest of the seson to French second division side FC Lorient, joining fellow Algerians Ziani and Mesbah at the club. Virgil Jamel Boumelaha of Stuttgart signed with HJK Helsinki, who are second in the tables. Finally, Hakim Saci signed with French third division side AS Cannes. The player, who had huge amount of potential a few years ago, has been plagued by injuries and his bad behaviour.

Mesbah Returns To Bale
Algerian midfielder Djamel Mesbah has returned from a loan stint to Swiss champions FC Bale. The 20-year old was on loan at French second division side FC Lorient but an injury prevented the player from playing any regular season games. Mesbah played 9 games and scored 1 goal last season with FC Bale.
