This was wrongly locked, and left accusations made by Al-Khiyal against myself unanswered.
The topic is perfectly within the grounds of legitimate debate, and contravenes no VCI policy that I know of. Such off-colour comments as there were could have been edited perfectly well by a mod with wide-ranging powers.
Admin, could you review this decision, as well as perhaps have a private word with "supermod" about his habit of flinging groundless insults before locking threads? That way I'm sure that the issue can be resolved; many thanks.

Ps
On a parallel topic, why was the thread "homosexuality" locked? It seems to me that it should be either open or deleted (I would prefer the former); as it stands it allows a propagandist viewpoint to go unchallenged.

The 'Gays' thread was locked as a member persisted in posting crude homophobic comments and reposting them once edited over a period of several hours. Admin has been advised and the thread can be unlocked when the matter has been addressed.
It was not 'wrongly locked', it is perfectly appropriate to lock a thread if it is coming under sustained abuse. Moderating this site isn't 'all about you'. With regard to your second question, I am unaware if the thread was locked by its author, as he is entitled to do. The thread is not going anywhere for the moment so we will have to wait for an explanation of why it was locked.

Remind me when you were appointed admin of this site?
I happen to resent veiled accusations of Islamophobia and direct accusations of intellectual deficiency being levelled at me by a moderator who goes on to lock a thread. Particularly when they are in response to perfectly legitimate questions. Of course, admin may well conclude that such a view isn't reasonable. But I'll wait for her response, if it's all the same to you.

As a moderator on this site I liaise with my administrator and the question of addressing abusive behavior is one that is obviously discussed. Any attempts from you to infer that I am usurping the authority of the administrator for implementing rules and agreed procedures in the administrator's absence are not credible.
The reason the thread was locked has been given to you, it was nothing to do with you and solely connected with the abuse that was being directed at the post.

See, this is what you do, Khiyal - you simply can't bear not to have the last word in any given discussion, and you can't manage to see even a perfectly simple point as anything other than a sinister ploy.
This thread is a perfect example. My point about you not being admin, was simply to point out that my query was addressed to Andrea, not to you. It was not about you "usurping" anything, or whatever other nonsense is going on in your head.
I simply resent having groundless accusations made against me, or insults thrown in threads that get locked by the person doing the throwing. Not an unreasonable point, I feel.
If you want to rage at someone who's trying to take your job away, then go talk to Bilderbooger. I just want you to act more responsibly.
You could make a start by going and taking a look at ElHenni's thread entitled "Homosexuality" in the religion section. Unless you already have, in which case I'll await a decision from Admin on my review request above.

You will note that this section is 'Suggestions - To Admin and Moderators only'
It is the case that questions or suggestions posted here can be answered by a moderator.
You have been quickly advised why the thread was locked and that the matter has already been brought to the attention of the administrator. That is not 'having the last word', it is 'communicating information'.
As to your question re: the other locked thread, I have already advised you that I am unaware of the reason for its being locked and that we will have to wait for an explanation.
