Relocation to Annaba from New Delhi

Hi All

I am considering an offer in Annaba city of Algeria. This is good oppurtunity as is with Mittal Steel.
I wanted to contact with natives or people who know the place to understand details of Cost of Living, Life in Algeria and adjustments needed if any for person used to life in New Delhi, India.
The company is offering me USD 3000 per month along with furnished accomodation and medical facilities. Want to know saving potential.
My problem is that I would be leaving behind my parents and need to support them in India and relocating with my wife and new born(1 month old) and need to save a lot but also live comfortably. Annaba is a 23 hour away from New Delhi by air.
Presnetly am in a decent job in India with Hutch(telecom) and am excited because this offer is from a multinational steel giant.
Please help with information, advise and photos if available for Annaba city.

Hi Sumit,

U lucky man! Annaba is one of the most beatiful cities of Algeria. You will enjoy it and can visit many wonderful places in a 100 miles radius.
The Steel industry is based in El Hadjar (a few miles from Annaba).
Life is not very expensive compared to western countries but I guess it is more expensive % India. If we consider you're offered a furnished accomodation and health care, $3000 are really sufficient. Depending on your way of life (going out, having a car, internet,...etc), I think u can easily save $2500 and even more...

Is Annaba city developed? Do they hav shopping malls, recreation facilities like movie halls etc? o we get good food to eat in annaba?
Is it safe to travel to Annaba with my small kid? risk of infection/diseases?
Do women in Annaba city have rights to dressing comfortably without being too little & too much dressed?
Do they give good standards of living----LNM Steel companies in Annaba?
Should USD3000pm be further negotiated?
What about taxes? and travelling costs in Annaba?
Are u aware of shorter routes from New Delhi to annaba and costs of travel by any chance?

Annaba is one of the 5 biggest Algerian cities. Don't worry, u will find enough places where to do your shopping, and Algerian food is gorgeous.
As for saftey, again don't worry, no risks at all (u don't have to get vaccinated).
ppl (men and women) wear whatever they want (in Annaba and anywhere else in Algeria). U will see, no specific style...everybody having its own
$3000 is a very high salary...it depends on your job, company, domain... min salary in Algeria is around $200.

To get there, the best is to transit via a european city (a french one will assure you a direct france-annaba flight).... a return ticket europe-algeria vary from 300 to 700 dollars

3,000 US dollars a month plus accomodations !?!?!? You dont even have to worry about costs. I can tell you that much.
