The Arab Forum of Saharan Tourism started Tuesday (November 7th) in Ghardaïa. Algerian Tourism Minister Noureddine Moussa and representatives of the Arab League, World Tourism Organisation, UN Development Programme, and Arab embassies accredited in Algeria attended the opening ceremony.

According to Moussa, the Algerian government has allocated two billion dinars for tourism development in the south, including rehabilitation of hotels and upgrading hotel infrastructure. The plan also includes rehabilitation of the old buildings of Ghardaïa, Ouargla, Laghouat, and Béchar to integrate them in the national heritage. Moussa said Algeria relies on sharing the promotion experience of its neighbours Morocco and Tunisia.
