A weekend in Algiers offers a fascinating blend of history, culture and scenery. You will have an opportunity to explore the French style waterfront area, the famous Kasbah featuring a citadel, old mosques, an Ottoman palace and the remains of a traditional urban structure and take a day excursion to the World Heritage site of Tipaza magnificently situated on the shores of the Mediterranean.

Itinerary

Day 1 - London/Algiers

Depart on British Airways flight from London Gatwick Airport. Arrive Algiers and transfer to Hotel El Djazair for a 3 night stay.

Day 2 - Algiers

City tour of Algiers including the famous Kasbah built in the early 16th century as an Ottoman Fort and palace for the local ruler; the Bardo Museum containing ancient sculptures and mosaics and the Cathedral of Notre Dame d’Afrique which mixes Roman and Byzantine styles.

Day 3 - Tipaza, Cherchell

Day excursion view the Roman ruins at Tipaza set on the shores of the Mediterranean and Cherchell the former Roman port of Caesarea.

Day 4 - Algiers/London

Morning free to perhaps visit the Museum of Popular Art or the Botanical Gardens. Afternoon transfer to the airport for your return flight to London.
