October 16, 2007 -- The French and U.S. embassies in Algeria are expected to assign WorldBridge Service to open in Algeria for visa applications in January.

The British embassy in Algeria opened a visas office in Algiers on September 19 for Algerian applicants after they had to go to Tunisia in the last few years.

Other foreign embassies in Algeria consider assigning a U.S. commercial office to receive visa applications by virtue of a contract concluded between an embassy and the office.

This office is supposed to work in a partnership that will transform the process of administering visa applications.

The British embassy in Tunisia granted 8,500 visas last year while 4 percent of applications were rejected.
