What kind of visa do I need?

Planning to visit a friend in algeria, oran who i met on the internet. just wondering what visa will i need and would i have any problems obtaining a visa?..

Would they start questioning why i want to visit?

any help would be appreciated.

In my experience getting a visa for Algeria is a bit bureaucratic but the form is very simple...you can download it from the Algerian Consulate's website and its only 1 side of A4. The difficulty is that you must have a certificat d'herbergement from someone in Algeria who will be providing you with accommodation during your stay [if you don't know someone who can provide the certificat I think you have to show that you've booked a hotel]. As well as this you need to complete 2 application forms and have photos attached to both plus pay the fee [which is minimal]. Applications in the UK are made to the Consulate and if you go there in person it will be a week before its ready to collect [applications by post obviously take longer]. If you do go in person the visa centre is only open in the mornings and there is always a long queue - collections are in the late afternoon. When you do get your visa inshallah you'll enjoy your visit to Algeria which, in my opinion, is a spectacularly beautiful country.
