Dizzy, I do read about this subject - way too often. While it doesn't surprise me, it does shock sometimes.

none of this should surprise you. if its important to you, do a little reading on the subject of violence against women.

Monkey. men don't suffer at the hands of women the way women suffer at the hands of men, and men at the hands of men.Originally posted by Monkey
Albeit it's sad to see what's happening to women, don't miss what men are bearing too. Those users doesnt see the difference bewteen gender when they're up to walk across peoples.

With all respect I've had experience first hand of violence against women, that's for me to deal with, and the story mentioned is a practice accepted by the community, not an individual, which makes it more terrible for meOriginally posted by dizzy_wizzy

I Jannah, I'm really sorry to that hear that, but I'm glad that you're not in that situation anymore.
if you do want to help your fellow women go to http://women.amnestyusa.org/home.asp This is the US chapter, i'm sure they have one in europe as well.

reading this kind of s**t that is perpetuated mostly by men in communities make u realise how many ignorant people r left in the 21st century...we have not progressed really.
in my own community there is very backward mentality going on towards women....won't go into detail as i don't know who reads what if u get my meaning, but if u upset certain men connected to mosque or running of islamic community u get big problems, even if u quote the necessary surah/hadith to prove the truth. there r always people (usually men) who want to maintain backward attitudes to continue their abuse of power over others!
