in my own community there is very backward mentality going on towards women....won't go into detail as i don't know who reads what if u get my meaning, but if u upset certain men connected to mosque or running of islamic community u get big problems, even if u quote the necessary surah/hadith to prove the truth. there r always people (usually men) who want to maintain backward attitudes to continue their abuse of power over others!

OMG!!that's exactly the same at our mosque... the men are always suppressing the women (be it their wives or their daughters)... one time they took us to a camp and they let the men do twice as much activities claiming that it was easier cuz 'men had less to cover'.... basically we stayed in the cabins while the men went swimming and rock climbing....
