In different cultures different signs are used to denote a married woman.
In India, Muslim women wear a necklace of black beads.
Hindu women wear the "mangal sutra" a special neclace with a special pendant.
And also apply "Sindhur" (red ochre)at the parting of the hair in the forehead.
In north-east India, women additionally wear a bangle, carved out of white sea-conch.

What is the practice in the Arab world / Algeria?

Is there any hadith prescribing what the Muslim married woman should wear?

there is no hadith saying what a muslim women should wear after being married...

for the most part.. algerias/arabs wear a wedding ring like they do here in america and in many other parts of the world

in algeria when there is a wedding.. some women wear what is called a gandoura (i think in some other places its called different things) with lots of big jewlrey ... these are things that were given to her by her husband, his family and her family as a gift for getting married...
however.. it is not a requirement for married women to wear them... some continue to wear western type of clothing

unmarried women in algeria dont wear these to weddings because well.. they dont have a husband yet :P

    hope that helps

The sign of marriage serves the purpose of giving a
subtle indication that she is married, and hence not available for marriage.
