60% is not much of a surprise to me. Many youngsters (both males and females) think that school leads to nothing but unemployment and that is thus a waste of time. Having more alternatives outside school, males are eager to leave the studies.
Of course, one may say that girls are brainy and easily arrange to reach the baccalaureate exam
The most disturbing figures are:
- 15 candidates of them with sight impairment, and 28 disabled: Means the government does nothing to help the disabled children to attend education courses.
- candidates from the secondary technical education represent 7, 55%: Such a big loss for Algeria is in a big need of technicians who are effective a few years after their baccalaureate.
- candidates were able to pass the exam, or only 37, 29%: We are following the french education scheme and targetteing 98% success rate. This does no good to our university. I read somewhere that more than 40% of the 1st year students couldn't pass to the 2nd year because of their weak level....
- And one personal grief, me holding a baccalaureate in Exact Sciences, I think it's a pity that this branch has not the esteem it deserves
