Belly dancing

There was an interesting article on belle dancing in Algiers & Marraket on the home page of A.com today.

It explains how it is conducted and how the foreigners are supposed to behave.

The advise is for men guests only.

But how the women guests are supposed to behave?

Cover their face & eyes and shy away from looking at the quivering, undulating belle?

Or women are not allowed where belle dancing is going on?

women sit and watch just as the men do .... but bellydancers in algerian weddings are less common than in morrocco tunisia and egypt ...

Is that Belly dancing you are refering to ? Yes ?

I have been to a few in Morocco , during Company parties for Business Partners from Abroad , IF you are refering to Belly Dancing , some ladies were gorgeous with bodies to die for , foreign usually are the first to get up and dance for a couple of minutes with the dancer , and give her money (push it around her hips .. some guys dare to get up and their wives are looking at them in a certain way , , one of the Pretty ladies was eying my husband too (bless him he is a looker ) but he did not encourage her with a smile (better for him . ) the girls are usually very young and leave the party at 3 am . with plenty of Business cards.
sometimes a Belly dancer shows up at a suprise birthday party (mostly for the over 40s .. ) it was fun . Did i enjoy it very much . Im not sure. I like joking around and having cool friends around me . Im not a dancer myself so that s probably why .

I appreciate that.

I have seen belly dancing only in movies & TV channels for a few seconds.Not performed in India.

It is an artfull way of showing off the beauty of female body.

In my Gym Studios in Casablanca , morocco , Belly Dancing classes were provided and the Moroccan Teachers were amazing . many Ladies thought they would have fund , learn to dance and exercise at the same time. I thougth ill give it a go a couple of times , Before aerobics . I was frustrated and my movements did not obey me neither my Hips , so i gave up and continued Pilates and Aerobics . My sister , who never took lessons is very good . at 5 when she was asked what did she want to do for a job she often said a belly Dancer (she loved the Egyptian Clothes for a dancer ) she is now a Lawyer in Algeria . (I often remind her )

once in london in a restaurant ,(during our students days ) there was a party and we were with some friendly students from Egypt we respected each other and we had good fun talking to each other .. My sister got up and danced and she was good . 2 of our Egyptian friends were shocked and disappointed . they had never thought she would do that . (and she felt dirty after that and almost guilty )
