ALGIERS, Nov 22 (KUNA) - Algeria is to play host to the 3rd session of the Permanent Office of the Arab Feminist Union on November 27-29, with the participation of representatives from 17 Arab countries, the Arab League and the Arab Family Organization.
Nouria Hafsi, secretary-general of the National Union of Algerian Women and deputy chairwoman of the Arab Feminist Union, told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Wednesday that the agenda of the 3rd session would revolve around a series of key points, involving how to shore up and cement Arab cooperation on all issues that concern Arab women, especially on the regional and international arenas, and women's empowerment in political, economic and social aspects.
She crossed her fingers that the Algiers meeting would be a further springboard for reinforcing the union whose activities were suspended for over 15 years. The union was reinstated in Yemen in November 2005 when Algeria was elected deputy head of the union.
During the session, the participants will also highlight Algerian women's role during the national liberal revolution in Algeria and the UN's role in protection Arab women, as well as Arab cooperation on improving women's status.
