Mineral make-up is the latest product setting the beauty world abuzz. It is powders that are fragrance and preservative-free and can give you a flawless complexion in seconds. The trend started in America when the make-up was created for women who wanted to wear make-up after cosmetic surgery. Because of increased skin sensitivity, the products had to be pure to avoid causing irritation, but still give good coverage to post-surgery skin. It has come to this side of the Atlantic with high street brands introducing their own ranges. Here's our pick.

    i.d bareMinerals Foundation SPF 15
The original mineral range, it was started in 1976 in San Fransisco and has an extensive range of products, from foundations to blusher and even lipsticks and fake tan. Made from 100 per cent crushedminerals, it doesn't clog the skin and has light reflecting properties. No chemicals and no talc mean it's so pure you can sleep in it. Great for lazy girls. Also contains SPF. The foundations are easy to apply with the right brush and Pure Radiance gives a radiant glow.

Urban Decay Surreal Skin Mineral Make-Up
Comes in a cool pot, which is mess-free, with a built-in applicator puff that makes putting it on easy as pie and you can do it virtually anywhere.

philosophy the supernatural/ airbrushed canvas spf 15
High pigment and talc-free foundation that gives a satin finish. Easy to use with a sponge applicator, it comes in three shades to conceal and camouflage imperfections. Ideal for skin prone to break-outs.

    L'Oreal True Match Minerals
A high street version for those on a budget. Comes in a mess-free pot with a built-in brush for application and gives decent coverage. Good if you want to try mineral make-up without the expense.

It sounds good. I like the fact that there's no nasty chemicals. I might give one of the products a try.

omg... i use physician's formula for my foundation.... IT'S THE BEST!!

leave your computer right now and go get it... it's like you're not wearing anything... it doesn't crack or look fake (as long as u don't use too much)

for those who are interested, i finally tried the SheerCover brand. cost me £30 for a months supply (they send u each month - but i canclled my membership, once purchased you are put into their members club), for foundation, concelar and finishing powder. it comes in very small quantities. erm...not sure really, it seems to do the same thing as my MAC make-up. it does feel very light on the skin, looks OK, but i do prefer my MAC.

the concelar didn't do a very good job, of hiding my blemishes, but the powder does give u that finished look.

the major brands are doing their own mineral products, i guess that would be better to go with unless you wear make every day, then this scheme might be worth it.
