    Lots of Ladies wear a Fouta when they go Inside the hammam but they take it off , some keep some kind of dignity but Most dont care, they say we are all women and all look the same .

    Men on the other hand keep covered up (i have heard ) my husband who is not Arab (but muslim) did not want to experience the Hammam after he was told , he said NO thanks . im ok with a shower .

    Sminette, you might be interested in checking out the Porchester Baths in Bayswater - they have what they call 'Turkish Baths', it's all marble and very nice, although they haven't anyone there to wash you. Be of Sundays, as it's a 'mixed' day.

    yeah.... we all look the same but we still have to hide the 3awra... ... u don't know if everyone in the hammam is "straight"

    ew, men's 7ammams - i don't even want to know what goes on there.... i can just imagine the nasty smell of damp males *barf*

    i have seen a program about Hammams on the syrian channel, they showed men only outside almost dressed , they are saying it is a dying tradition but some still love it and will try and keep it alive .

    I agree a 100% and i do that too . a neigbour of mine came once to clean my back and i was told she was ... later on

    if u ever go to syria - go to qasr al 3azem there... they have models of how life used to be back then... it's really cool

    yes pictures like that were shown on the program i saw on tv . in Algerian Hammams they wont have the sheesha just the bath !
