haha... yeah that picture was taken from a show, rather than a documentary... "bab el 7ara". u should watch it... it's a super good recreation of life in damascus in the 1920s

i missed it last night, i think i will go tonight !! inchallah !

the best memories i keep in mind from my last sunday hammam, it was a kid washing the back of her mother. He was around 2 or 3 years old ! his mother was very thin and very "bossue", one moment I observed it washing the back of his mother by closing the eyes, for Just to better feel I suppose, in this moment it was love in a pure state!

I love hammams. I've only ever gone to the one's in R'abat & henna on the hair & sabon beldi on the body & siwak on the teeth was my only beauty regime. Now I see girls using Fair & Lovely.

whoever came up with that fair and lovely nonsense should be ............... punished...

they totally aren't helping the old backwards mentality that lighter skinned girls are prettier... they create discrimination within their own country, community, and even family!

one time my cousin went to the beach and her sunblock washed off - so she ended up getting this nice tan... but when she got back to her room she saw herself and started crying - then her mom saw her and started yelling. And my sister and i were just shocked and confused... then her mom dug around in her purse and smeared "fair and lovely" all over her face .......... it was so sad... and infuriating

I enjoyed getting tanned when i was younger , the darker the better it suited me . girls in Algeria only avoid the sun and beach if they are close to getting married and prefer to stay white but normally ALL love the beach and tans .
    Friendship

[60:8] GOD does not enjoin you from befriending those who do not fight you because of religion, and do not evict you from your homes. You may befriend them and be equitable towards them. GOD loves the equitable.

[60:9] GOD enjoins you only from befriending those who fight you because of religion, evict you from your homes, and band together with others to banish you. You shall not befriend them. Those who befriend them are the transgressors
