    El Fatiha - Info Please!

    I am looking for information.

My bf is Algerian and we plan on having an el fatiha. I am trying to learn more about it, but info is very limited on the internet. I am not muslim and really have no knowledge on this!

I do know that it is a religious marriage, there will be family and friends there and a reading from the Quran.

I would like to know things like, what to wear, do I give him a gift, other traditions that are involved.

    Thank you for your help!

Hi, El fatha is like signing a contract between you and the man. After that you are married. The wedding party is like the announcement of that.

Congratulations, i wish that you will be Happy

Ok from what I know when a man askes for your hand in marriage he comes with his family to anounce that he wants to marry you. Once you accept you both read Surat Al Fatiha. This is the first chapter in The Quran.

This does not mean you are married but it is declaration infront of your family and his family to say you promise to marry him.

The marriage takes place in front of an Adul (an Islamic registrar)where you then sign the wedding certifcate and the dowry money/gift is presented to you.

You then have a henna (besh rajlek ehan 3leek) party - women only.

Then the wedding party - where alot of dancing takes place.

    Allahi kamel khair.

what happend to a wali (imam) and 2 shouhouds (family members) from either party?
    In the Qur'an, Allah says:

"When My servants ask about Me, I am indeed close to them. I listen to the prayer of every supplicant, when he calls on Me.
Let them also, with a will, listen to My call, and believe in Me, so that they may walk in the right way" (Qur'an 2:186).
