To my opinion Fashion/beauty contest is a simple form of art and to some extent acceptable in Muslim, Christian and other communities. No reason to kill!
Humanity is the greatest virtue of every religion and must not be forgotten for little things in life that are 'unwished' by -fanatic- religious groups.
I have seen every fanatic religious group loosing the basic principle of its religion: e.g. peace, kindness and humantiy.
