Algiers - Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika would make his first official visit to Britain next month since becoming head of state in 1999, amid increasing co-operation in dealing with terrorism suspects, state radio said.
The visit on July 11 and 12 comes five weeks after London and Algiers concluded accords on extradition, which has been followed by the deportation of two Algerians from Britain.
The accords signed on June 8 during a visit here by Britain's deputy foreign minister Kim Howells also covered the movement and readmission of persons and legal co-operation on penal matters as well as civil and trade issues.
A man described by the British Home Office as a senior member of a terrorist group linked to al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden was deported from Britain to Algeria on Saturday after voluntarily dropping an appeal against the move.
Another Algerian security suspect, said to have provided stolen or forged credit cards and false documents to Islamic extremists to move in and out of Britain, was flown to Algiers on Friday.
The Home Office praised the "shared commitment in the fight against terrorism and of the warm relationship between our two countries".
A spokesman said a number of other Algerians had also withdrawn their appeals against deportation moves and that proceedings were under way to remove them from Britain.
The government had previously been hampered by human rights laws saying suspects could not be returned to countries where they faced the risk of torture or ill-treatment.
Human rights groups have been unconvinced by specific accords concluded by Britain with Algeria, Jordan, Lebanon and Libya which include non-binding pledges by those countries that returned suspects would not face torture.
Not yet returned is Abdelmoumen Rafik Khalifa, charged in Algeria with fraud and money laundering, who fled to London two years ago.
