Golf Courses in Algeria

Algeria is not exactly what might be termed a golfer's paradise. However, if you are visiting the country and are fond of the game, there are one or two golf courses in Algeria that are worth trying. The Arab world has been exposed to golf since World War I when the British introduced the game to Egypt. Since then, some 50 courses have been developed across the various Arab nations but, suffice to say, the majority of these can be found far outside of Algeria's national borders.

The vast majority of courses can be found in Morocco whilst Saudi Arabia most likely has the second highest number of golf courses. Egypt, Lebanon and Libya are next in line and the rest are scattered across the remaining countries of the Arab world. Some of these courses have been designed by golfing greats and have high ratings. Other courses are locally designed and used and may not be considered a very great challenge by the majority of golfers who visit from other countries.

Algeria has one main golf course, which takes the form of the Algiers Golf Club. The club is popular with both locals and foreigners though not that many locals can really afford to enjoy the game. The course covers roughly 10 km of ground and features stunning views of the sea and city. The club has golf equipment for hire, friendly, well-trained staff and good golf. It is really one of the few golfing opportunities that you are likely to encounter whilst in the country and should be enjoyed enthusiastically. Playing golf at a golf course in Algeria is one of the best ways to compare your golfing talent to that of the locals. Don't miss the chance to T-off on your next visit to Algeria!
