  • A Challenging Outcry

You may muzzle the birds to chant
And in the breast you may detain the sigh
You may root out the sap from the plant
You may frost the tears in the eye
You may wither the rose in its ful bloom
And restrain the doleful from complaining his pain
You may reduce our dreams to fume
And in the sky you stop the rain
    You may change my color
You may extort me the sight
And my sea you fill up with sorrow and dolor
You may in my mind blend the wrong and the right
But never you will muzzle my voice and my pen
And never you will detect the depths of my soul
Never in my heart you will extinguish the flame of the yen
And never you can veil the light of my sol.
